This ebook contains step-by-step instructions with 57 photos. Do it yourself without special tools, from start to finish. Shown below is the actual gun that was used in the manual and the end results. Also shown are the test groups fired when the accuracy job was complete. Price for the Clint Fowler M1 Garand Accuracy Job Ebook: $34.95. Immediate download upon payment.

The group on the left was shot first. The elevation dispersion of that group told me the gas system needed more volume. I adjusted the set screws inside the gas plug outward 1 ½ turns and shot group 2. It is .910” wide and about 1/2” tall. The horizontal dispersion of group 2 told me my first adjustment was a little too much so I moved the set screws back in by about 1 hour of turn. That will cut the width slightly. You can tell I have tested a few guns cant you?
Now Available: The M1 Garand Accuracy Job bound and printed in full color. You get both the Ebook and the printed version for $74.95. When you checkout with the button below, you will be able to download the ebook immediately. The printed version will be mailed to you.

The Clint Fowler Accuracy Job
This M1A was a complete rack grade M1A with a Winchester G.I. chrome lined barrel. I did my standard accuracy job (no lugs) and tested it on my machine rest @ 100 yards. I used my standard test load of 40 grains of 1MR 4064, Remington Case, Fed. 210M primer and 168 Gr. Sierra bullet. I usually get 3/4″ to 5/8″ groups but this one was under 1/2″. A dime completely covered it. All this with a U.S. G.I. chrome lined barrel made by Winchester. This is why I never evaluate barrel quality until after the accuracy job is done.

“At the kitchen table” if your wife will let you? Hmmm, what if your HUSBAND won’t let you? My husband is more interested in his bows, but I think he’d frown upon me starting yet another project in our kitchen. Or my dining room.
Your dad surly like thie things you write just not the things you do at the kitchen table.. I guess he will get over it.LOL
Clint, thanks for your book which I just read. Fascinating. But I didn’t see where you added the locking lugs to the action. I thought that was part of the accuracy job in addition to the gas plug and the op rod track.
Matt
att, I didn’t include the lug work because i felt it was beyond the scope of the standard accuracy job, something the doityourselfer would not be able to do without outside help. Clint
Clint, well if you think the lug work is beyond the doityourselfer then it must be because I think it would take a capable guy to do everything described in the manual. Perhaps you might consider a DVD of the material. Following a moving three dimensional process through a two dimensional picture can be tricky. Anyway, I would certainly welcome a DVD.
Regarding the adjustable gas plug, how many screws do you have to adjust? Is it an issue that the screws have to be adjusted the same amount? And do you loctite them in place once they’re adjusted properly?
Matt
Clint,
What is your turnaround time to fully accurize a M1 Garand into a NM M1 with your lugs?
“Regarding the adjustable gas plug, how many screws do you have to adjust? Is it an issue that the screws have to be adjusted the same amount? And do you loctite them in place once they’re adjusted properly? Matt”
Matt, There are two screws in a threaded bore. The outer one is a locking set screw. To adjust remove the outer, adjust the inner, replace the outer. Amount of adjustment is dictated by shape of group. Vertical groups indicate gun needs more gas volume.Move inner screw outward in one turn increments, test and try again until vertical dispersion is gone. If you go too far dispersion will become horizontal. If so then go back in but this time in one hour increments,it,s that sensitive. Usually one hour or less will produce your finished group. Because of the locking set screw no loctite needed. Clint
Jamey, I keep a 5-6 months backlog on complete jobs. Only rarely does it shorten up.
very impressive. this is one of the most interesting things that i have seen all day.

Hi Clint. Thanks a lot for the explanation about the adjustable gas plug. Just a couple more questions which might seem naive since I don’t know what the plug actually looks like. Do you need a special tool to adjust the screws? Is a regular screwdriver okay? And I remember on the test groups that you sent me you wrote about 1 hour increments for turning the screws. I guess that 1/60th of a full rotation of the screw would be a minute increment, so what is an hour? Would that be a complete rotation? That doesn’t sound right. Thanks.
Matt
Clint, I haven’t yet downloaded the book but wanted to ask if the garand you used to make the book and have for sale has your triple lug job?
James
The M1 in the ebook has the standard accuracy job, however, the triple lug job can be added if desired but it will also need a stock, as this stock will not handle the triple lug job.
Clint
Hi Clint. What kind of accuracy can you guarantee for an M1 or M1A with everything that can be done: triple lug accuracy job, triple laminated stock, Krieger match barrel and anything else?
Matt
Hi Clint. I forgot to add that I am so delighted with the M1 Garand that I received. It is a super smooth shooter with surprisingly little recoil and very accurate even with the Greek surplus ammo. And everybody is complimenting me on how wonderful the stock looks. This is an incredible deal and a joy to shoot. Thanks so much.
Matt
I assure you that you can get sub-minute accuracy every time on both guns with the only qualification that the barrel must be in reasonably good condition.
